Equishare

Equishare is a wonderful opportunity to ride and look after a horse or pony of your own, make friends, have fun and learn to ride in a supervised and safe environment. You will be part of a unique establishment that has your enjoyment and horse welfare in mind. Equishare has all the advantages of owning a horse, but without the responsibility that goes with buying your own. It works equally well for sharers and horses, giving the animal the benefit of a relationship with one person as well as a break from the routine of school work, and children (their parents) and adults the advantage of not having to look after a pony/horse every day as they all live out on grass. We often organise special shows or clinics, and sharers are given the opportunity to travel to events with their horses.

The Equishare also includes a group riding lesson. Sharers can choose between a weekly ½ hour lesson and a 1 hour lesson every fortnight. These lessons provide a great opportunity to ride a variety of other horses/ponies which helps create more versatile riders and great if your pony is out of action.
Lessons are held primarily on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings. At all other times sharers can ride at their leisure.

Children are welcome and supervised at all times except on Sundays after 12 o'clock as this is our family time. Parents need to be aware that children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by and adult if they stay after that time.

Riders with more experience are given provide the opportunity to share a more quality horse that is not used in the riding school. These horses are competition horses, carefully produced by our staff from youngsters (some have been bred by ourselves) to sell to clients wanting a better class of horse and the back up of an after-sales service. These horses often need stabling and therefore demand a little more commitment to their care than the grass kept riding school ponies and may incur higher costs. As the group lessons are not suitable for our competition youngsters, sharers are welcome to join the weekly or fortnightly lessons on one of our riding school horses instead.

We encourage all riders to book private lessons with their horse. We do not abandon sharers with their horses and our staff will still contribute to their training needs and are here to help. Control of the horse is not handed over totally in case of any schooling issues that may arise.

All sharers are given the opportunity to buy their horse/pony and can move on to the next size without the risks of buying or selling. Sometimes, we may feel that the time is right to sell a horse/pony, i.e. because it is getting older, loosing interest, or not very suitable for learners to ride on. If this is the case, the sharer will always be given first refusal to buy if they wish.
If sharers register their interest in buying their horse/pony, we offer the opportunity to pay in instalments. The responsibility for the horse stays with us until it is paid in full.
Occasionally we may feel the need to swap loaners on to another pony. This may occur if we have small children on a larger pony, and we have adults waiting. Or a novice rider may be waiting, and we have children who have been riding a long time staying on their ponies when they could move on to a second type of pony and give op the one they loan which is suitable for a beginner. Riders and horses are insured through us whilst on the premises and on rides to the local woods. Sharers who wish to take their horses to competitions and other places will need to get their own insurance.

The prices for Equishare start from £46 up to £60 per week, depending on the size of the pony/horse, plus the cost for shoes or trimming every other month. Sharers are also required to assist at the yard during lesson times once a month (rota).

You do not need to sign a formal agreement or contract; however, we ask our sharers to give us one month notice when they wish to give up their loan.

If Equishare is something you might be interested in, please contact us and we will do our best to find a suitable horse or pony for you!
